Six additional charges have been added to the already long list of charges against alleged wife killer, Arnold Terblanche, when allegations surfaced that he allegedly tried to have his two co-accused murdered.
Terblanche, the estranged husband of murdered Vicki Terblanche, her boyfriend at the time of her death, Reinhardt Leach and Dylan Cullis, all face numerous charges relating to Vicki’s death. The trio have been in and out of court since their arrest about a year ago with Terblanche desperately trying to get bail but being denied twice.
Although Terblanche claimed a small victory in the Gqeberha High Court yesterday, October 4, when it overruled the Magistrate Court’s ruling that Terblanche’s latest application wasn’t based on new facts, he also suffered a setback with these brand new charges.
Regional spokesperson of the National Prosecuting Authority, Luxolo Tyali, confirmed that Terblanche appeared in the St Albans Court facing six charges that include conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to defeat the ends of justice and conspiracy to commit an act of corruption.
“The case was remanded to Friday, October 7. It is only then that the substantive facts will be ventilated,” Tyali said.
A member of Terblanche’s legal team, adv. Oliver Smith, also confirmed Terblanche’s appearance but couldn’t furnish additional information.
“We cannot accept or deny the allegations but know that he appeared on the additional six charges,” he said.
Terblanche and his co-accused have been in custody since October and November last year, around the time when Vicki’s body was found in a shallow grave in Greenbushes. All three will be appearing in the Magistrate’s Court again on October 28 to finalise a potential plea deal for Cullis.
