Two people died in an accident that took place on Addo Road early this morning, July 15.

UPDATE:

The accident took place at approximately 07:00 this morning at the Addo Road and Old Grahamstown Road crossing. A white Quantum minibus and trailer collided with a truck (horse only) and overturned.

Police spokesperson, Capt. André Beetge, said that of the injured passengers, two were boys aged 11 and four years.

“The truck driver, a 50-year-old male, was uninjured in the incident. All injured passengers were transported to different hospitals depending on their injuries which ranged from serious to medium in severity,” Beetge said.

A case of culpable homicide is being investigated by SAPS Swartkops.

According to Director of Traffic and Licencing in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, Warren Prins, a taxi had overturned, leading to a road closure after the accident.

The taxi and a truck had allegedly collided.

“Two people died in the accident. Addo Road is still closed,” Prins said.
