Two people pretending to be customers robbed a tech shop in Newton Street, Newton Park this morning, July 21 just before 09:00.

The two “customers” were being assisted when one of them allegedly took out a firearm, while the second suspect went behind the counter and ordered two employees to go down on their knees.

Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, said that the one employee screamed and alerted the owner of the business.

“The panic alarm was activated, and the suspects grabbed five laptops and one cell phone. One suspect jumped into a getaway vehicle, a Ford Icon, while the second suspects ran towards Disa Ave in Newton Park,” Janse van Rensburg explained.

SAPS Mount Road detectives are investigating a case of business robbery.
