A 32-year-old man was arrested by police in Motherwell at the weekend after allegedly stabbing his brother to death.

Police spokesperson, Capt. André Beetge, said that Motherwell police were alerted to the stabbing incident that occurred just after midnight on Saturday. Mthobeli Mdala (35) was taken to the Motherwell Health Centre where he died shortly after.

“A quick follow-up ensured that his brother was arrested and a knife confiscated after police were told that the brother allegedly stabbed the victim following an argument at their house in Mgwalana Street, NU6, Motherwell,” Beetge said.

The suspect will be appearing before the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court today, October 3.
