The Acting Head of Department (HoD) for the Department of Education, Mahlubandile Qwase, has announced that the province will be translating six subjects for the Grade 12 trial examinations for the first time in history.
“This monumental endeavour commenced on August 15 until the trial examinations are done. This task has been undertaken in consultation with well experienced content knowledge teachers and subject advisors of the province,” said Qwase.
He added that the initiative seeks to elevate the status of use of indigenous languages for Africans with respect to isiXhosa and Sesotho.
”This will enable teaching, learning and assessment of learners in our schools around the province as it focuses on developing the standard of success during assessment.”
The subjects that are being translated/versioned in isiXhosa and Sesotho are mathematics, physical science, life sciences, history, agricultural science and accounting.
